The first meeting of the members of the Regional Coordination Unit (RCU), was held on September 30, 2024 in Zadar, Croatia, and NATURA-JADERA public institution hosted it. The members of the RCU will cooperate to facilitate the development of the Climate Strategy in Tourism for the Zadar County area.
The strategy is being developed as part of the Interreg EURO-MED project NaTour4CChange – “Governing sustainable tourism in territories with high environmental value: reconnecting tourism and nature for addressing the climate crisis with an ecosystem-based approach”. The Institute for Tourism, coordicator of the project, will lead its development.
The meeting was attended by the director of the Institute for Tourism, Ph.D. Damir Krešić, project coordinator, Ph.D. Izidora Marković Vukadin and collaborators on the project, Ph.D. Mira Zovko and Ph.D. Nora Mustać, head of the Department for Tourism in the Administrative Department for Economy and Tourism of Zadar County Marta Hordov, head of the Department for Spatial Planning in the Administrative Department for Spatial Planning, Environmental Protection and Communal Affairs of Zadar County Zvonimir Dorkin, assistant director of the Tourist Board of Zadar County Ina Sikirić Ivčić, associate professor at the Department of Tourism and Communication Sciences, University of Zadar, Ph.D. Tomislav Klarin, Ph.D. Gabrijela Vidić, assistant professor at the Department of Tourism and Communication Sciences of the University of Zadar and Nives Rogoznica, local coordinator of the NaTour4CChange project at NATURA-JADERA public institution.
The Dugi Otok area in Zadar County is one of the Mediterranean pilot sites where regional climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies for the coastal tourism sector will be developed. Within the of the framework of NaTour4CChange project, mitigation and adaptation solutions will be sought in Nature-based solutions.
