Among the contributors at the 2025 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC) in Nice (9-13 June 2025) , was our colleague Chloé Martin, representing the NaTour4CChange project and partner organisation Plan Bleu.
Chloé took part in two central segments of the event, each highlighting how NT4CC supports both on-the-ground innovation and strategic policymaking in the face of climate change.
- Coastal Tourism and Climate Change: The Example of the Cap Ferrat Marine Protected Area
In this session, organized by Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur, Chloé was invited to present early results from the risk assessment of the Cap Ferrat Marine Protected Area, one of the six NT4CC pilot sites. She emphasized the application of nature-based solutions to strengthen the climate resilience of coastal tourism destinations. The discussion offered valuable insights into site-specific vulnerabilities and adaptation strategies.
- Bridging Natural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism
In the second segment, dedicated to advancing marine and coastal policy integration across the Mediterranean co-hosted by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme’s Sustainable Tourism and Natural Heritage Missions Chloé focused on policy integration, showcasing how NT4CC’s bottom-up approach is contributing to the Dialogue4Tourism White Paper. Her presentation illustrated how local actions and community engagement within NT4CC are informing broader Euro-MED and EU-level policies, particularly in aligning tourism development with nature conservation and climate adaptation.
Plan Bleu’s and Chloé’s contribution underscored NT4CC’s role as a bridge between research, action, and policy. Her presence at UNOC2025 not only brought the project’s early achievements into the spotlight but also affirmed Plan Bleu and NT4CC’s commitment to fostering coordinated, climate-smart governance across the Mediterranean.
