In response to the growing urgency for climate action in tourism, driven by extreme weather events, the Transition Pathway for Tourism, and the Glasgow Declaration, the NaTour4CChange project empowers Mediterranean regions and destinations to co-develop ecosystem-based mitigation and adaptation strategies.
Through a shared methodology, five regions (Andalusia, Zadar County, Sardinia, Crete, and Bosnia and Herzegovina) and five pilot destinations (Cabo de Gata Natural Park, MPA Capo Carbonara, Dugi Otok, Nature Park Hutovo Blato, and Ori Zarkou & Koufonisi Island) are drafting Regional and Destination Tourism Climate Strategies and testing Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to address coastal tourism-related climate challenges.
To promote transnational dialogue and capitalize on shared learning, the project is organizing two Transnational Exchange Workshops for Regional Cross-Fertilization. The first workshop will take place online on June 18, 2025 (10:00–12:30 CET). These sessions provide a platform for regions to present their Climate Strategies, exchange experiences, identify common barriers, and engage in peer review.
Targeted at regional tourism, conservation, and climate authorities, as well as experts and associated partners, the workshops aim to foster stronger, more coherent climate action across the Mediterranean.
