NaTour4CChange Showcases Pilot Destinations and Nature-Based Solutions at the III MED Sustainable Tourism Convention in Barcelona

Jun 24, 2026

As part of the III MED Sustainable Tourism Convention, held at the CCCB (Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona / Contemporary Culture Center of Barcelona), the Interreg Euro-MED project NaTour4CChange successfully organised its Networking Cocktail & Results Exhibition Event, an official partner event of EU Green Week 2026.

The exhibition brought together project partners, stakeholders, tourism professionals, and sustainability experts to celebrate the achievements of the project and highlight the progress made across its seven pilot destinations. Designed as a space for exchange, networking, and inspiration, the event offered participants the opportunity to discover how local communities are working towards a more sustainable and climate-resilient tourism model in the Mediterranean.

A central feature of the evening was the presentation of the project’s seven pilot destinations. Representatives from each destination shared their experiences throughout the implementation of NaTour4CChange, reflecting on the challenges they faced, the lessons they learned, and the innovative approaches they adopted to address tourism-related pressures linked to climate change.

Particular attention was given to the Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) selected and tested within the project. These solutions aim to strengthen the environmental sustainability and climate resilience of Mediterranean destinations while supporting local economies and enhancing visitor experiences. Through practical examples and real-life applications, attendees gained valuable insights into how Nature-Based Solutions can contribute to the transition towards more sustainable tourism practices.

Adding a unique cultural dimension to the event, each pilot destination also showcased authentic local products representative of its region offering visitors a tangible connection to the identity, heritage, and traditions of the participating territories.

The Networking Cocktail & Results Exhibition Event enabled the exchange of ideas, building of new partnerships, and exploration of opportunities for future cooperation, thus demonstrating how sustainability, innovation, and local culture can work together to shape a more resilient future for Mediterranean tourism.

NaTour4CChange would like to thank all project partners, pilot destinations, and attendees whose active participation contributed to the success of the event. Their commitment and enthusiasm continue to drive the project’s vision of promoting climate-adaptive and sustainable tourism across the Mediterranean region.
