‘How can tourism and marine conservation coexist in one of the Mediterranean’s most valuable coastal areas?’
On April 7th, local stakeholders gathered at the Cap Ferrat Marine Protected Area for a collaborative workshop within the framework of NaTour4CChange, exploring how communication and tourism can actively contribute to climate action and marine preservation.
This workshop was organized by Emilie Giraut from Blossom Territoires and aimed to initiate reflections on the marketing strategy and communication plan for climate action at the Cap Ferrat pilot site with the participation of the Local Task Force of the Cap Ferrat Marine Protected Area, bringing together tourism actors, diving centers, local authorities, tourism offices, and the MPA management team to co-create the foundations of a shared narrative for the territory.
Key objectives included:
- laying the foundations for a shared narrative and collective voice for the Cap Ferrat Marine Protected Area (MPA);
- identifying priority target groups and the behavioral changes needed to reconcile tourism with the preservation of the MPA, as part of the NaTour4CChange project;
- defining key messages for each target group, as well as the most appropriate communication channels.
A strong common vision emerged throughout the discussions. The position of the Cap Ferrat MPA as a unique and authentic Mediterranean destination, where people are invited not only to visit nature, but to coexist with it respectfully.
The workshop also highlighted the importance of creating engaging and accessible communication tools tailored to different audiences from children and local residents to tourism professionals and visitors seeking meaningful experiences.
